I have a whole list of reasons I have been negligent in my writing lately. Good reasons and not so good reasons, check the post below for one of them. As we all know on the other hand, reasons like those are simply excuses for being unmotivated and lazy. I make no excuse, I simply note that it has happened, and why, and will try to move from there. With a little luck I will manage to avoid some of these pitfalls in the future. Kinda doubt it though.

Crysis 2

Review - GamePosted by MrCIA 2011-04-02 23:31:10
Several years ago a German company released a game called 'Crysis'. This gorgeous game was perhaps one of the worst letdowns in a long time. Top notch graphics and immersion into the world, combined with gameplay mechanics from the early 90's was not a winning combination. After modding the game I found a way to play through it and still have fun most of the time, most. Come 2011 and the same company has now released the sequel. They have taken what was right the first time around, art, graphics, immersion, and thrown out just about everything that was wrong the last time. I have neglected just about everything around me recently as I have played this beautiful, impressive, action packed and above all Fun game to it's conclusion. The game is far from perfect of course, but the issues it has are far out weighed in my opinion by the great set pieces, and the developers new found grasp of what is fun. I am giving Crysis 2 my unreserved recommendation.

Midnight stew

Journal - RandomPosted by MrCIA 2011-03-29 00:56:56

I think I may be a little to ambitious at the moment. It is now 00:53 local time and the stew I have cooking on the stove should be done in about forty minutes. If I'm lucky that is. The meat is still going to be a bit tough, but I think I can manage to eat it. So far it certainly seems to taste good.

In other news, Julia brought by a ginormous present for Ares today. The thigh and shin bones of a year old cow. With meat, sinews and plenty of blood still on, and in, them. He now has about seven kilos of semi fresh flesh to chew on, and chew he has since we got home with them about five hours ago.

The Troll Hunters

Review - MoviePosted by MrCIA 2011-03-25 22:55:51
A Norwegian movie about three video journalist students who follow someone they think is a simple poacher. He, of course, turns out to be something much different. Trolljegeren, as it is called in it's original language is a action horror in the same school as 'Cloverfield' and 'The Blair Witch Project', as it is one of those 'found footage' films. The big surprise in this movie is how well made the movie is. The script, the camera work, the acting are all great. Sure there are a few scenes that are a bit too shaky. And the acting can be a bit wooden at times. But the vast majority of the movie is superbly crafted to tell a story. A story about a man with a dirty, difficult job, who just wishes he could get a little recognition in life. I know I am going to be watching this movie again. I will be getting this movie on DVD as well. Why aren't you?

Writing things.

Journal - WritingPosted by MrCIA 2011-03-22 00:40:23
I started writing last summer. I have never really written anything serious before in my life. Sure, I have written stuff for school, a few short things for friends, or about friends. I even wrote a speech once. Of course I had to hold it for a bunch of seniors that couldn't care less what I was speaking about, but it was still a good speech. Anyway, about my current writing. I decided to try my hand at writing seriously. Science Fiction I thought, now that's something I know. Something I read and study on my own continuously. So I started writing a prologue. a few hours later I had a first draft done. A few thousand words to set the tone and introduce an idea I had buzzing around my head. The reactions from those I showed it to surprised me. They really seemed to like it. Bull even suggested I should keep writing the story and post it to the stardestroyer.net user fiction forum. Working up my courage I finally posted it, and to my surprise the compliments continued. I wrote another chapter, and another. For a few months I punched out a chapter a week. I was compared to award winning authors. People were discussing future plot developments with great enthusiasm. I couldn't really believe it. I hadn't written more than a thousand words in one go in my entire life, and here I was, tens of thousands of words in a single story. Thirty, forty, fifty thousand words over ten or so chapters, and still the praise. I got some negative remarks, of course. My spelling, punctuation and grammar were, and still are, a hit or miss thing. Now I'm seventy thousand words into the book. I have people who read what is fast becoming a real book, who are actively engaged in the life stories of my characters. All this should point me towards a certain faith in my abilities. So why do I feel like I'm just faking it?

Decisions and hesitation.

Journal - RandomPosted by MrCIA 2009-11-20 08:01:09
Recently I have been thinking about doing something big in my life, but I can't seem to find a good answer. It is such an important decision that even at this early stage in my considerations it actually scares me a little when I think about all the implications. It may not be possible, but then it may be possible and there would be a very real risk to my life if I should go through with it. What I find interesting is that one of the things that bothers me most about this decision is that I would be forced to cut of my hair. That is seriously one of my stumbling blocks to going through with my idea. Odd huh?, it is not the chance of dying or becoming a cripple that bothers me the most at this point, it's losing my hair. I guess that the human mind just works in mysterious ways.

Random Writings - I

Journal - RandomPosted by MrCIA 2009-10-30 02:38:50

Samtidigt i Umeå.

Några minuter senare i Skellefteå.
